Flower Care Guide

Fresh Flower and Preserved Flower Care

Fresh Cut Flowers

Keep your blooms looking their best with these six simple steps.

1. Unwrap with Care

Gently remove the packaging, taking care not to damage the delicate petals or stems.

2. Remove Leaves Below the Waterline

Remove any leaves that would sit in the vase water. This helps keep the water clean and reduces bacterial growth.

3. Trim the Stems

Using clean, sharp scissors or secateurs, trim the stems at a 45-degree angle before placing them in water.

4. Use a Clean Vase

Place your flowers in a clean vase filled with fresh water. Ensure the stem ends are submerged and check the water level daily.

5. Refresh the Water Regularly

Change the water every two to three days, clean the vase and trim the stem ends. Remove any wilted flowers or deteriorating foliage.

6. Keep Flowers Cool

Display your flowers in a cool spot away from direct sunlight, heat sources and strong draughts.

Extra tip: If flower food is provided, follow the instructions on the packet.

Preserved Flowers

Preserved flowers are real blooms that have been specially treated to maintain their appearance for longer. Follow these simple care instructions to keep them looking beautiful.

1. Handle Gently

The petals and stems are delicate, so handle them with care and only when necessary.

2. Display Indoors

Keep preserved flowers indoors in a sheltered location.

3. Do Not Water

Preserved flowers do not need water. Avoid watering or misting them.

4. Keep Them Dry

Choose a dry space away from humidity, bathrooms and other damp areas.

5. Avoid Direct Sunlight

Keep your arrangement out of direct sunlight to help preserve its colour and appearance.
