NEWS FEB 2009: MORE BERTHS AVAILABLE ON REEF CRUISE: there has been a change to the Reef & Rainforest Cruise plans, the vessel to be used was not available, and Go Bush has been able to secure The Coral Princess as an alternate vessel. This is quite luxorious boat and should ensure a comfortable trip for all. The Coral Princess

In 2009, in addition to other special charters, GO BUSH will be offering nine safaris including regular annual events to Kakadu (in the Wet), Lord Howe Island and Fraser Island. We will also repeat our Uluru and the Red Centre and two other safaris to lesser known Australian World Heritage sites - Blue Mountains and Border Ranges.

Numbers: A maximum of 24 safarists accompany the crew on any trip. There are usually more than ten people on any trip. Most 2005 GO BUSH safaris were booked out several months prior to departure dates, some within a month of being advertised.

Safarists: A testimony to the popularity of GO BUSH safaris is that more than 35% of safarists have been on previous GO BUSH adventures. Another 35% are travelling on personal recommendations of other previous safarists. Age is no limit. The majority of safarists are above 50. Extremely few are smokers. All share the GO BUSH objectives.

Guides: We aim to provide the best possible interpretation for each safari without inflicting information overload. We therefore engage various local guides for tours in particular areas to provide local knowledge and specific information, especially on Aboriginal culture.

Handbooks: A small Safari Handbook outlining our operation and what safarists can expect will be sent to safarists on receipt of an Application Form. An additional package with details of the specific safari is forwarded about six to eight weeks prior to the safari start date.

Styles: GO BUSH hires all safari transport, and tailors its modes of accommodation and transport to be the most appropriate for each individual safari. We aim to provide a comfortable, affordable package.

Transport: Apart from our live-aboard cruises, we hire or charter a range of transport, from aircraft to boats and buses. The bulk of travel is by vehicle. For some safaris, we use air-conditioned 22 seat Coaster buses. For Fraser Island, we use a small convoy of four wheel drive vehicles.
Camping: In 2008 we are offering camping safaris to Uluru and the Red Heart, Fraser Island and the Border Ranges. We provide very comfortable and efficient camping arrangements and cuisine, including two-person safari tents and inflatable rubber mattresses.

Accommodated Safaris: To avoid the rigours of camping and without dramatically increasing costs Go Bush offers a number of accommodated safaris. The style varies from budget to ship's cabins. Because most venues require rooms to be shared by two to four people, we do not offer single supplements. On Lord Howe Island we stay in fully self-contained units (twin share) at a local resort where GO BUSH Safaris caters for lunches and breakfasts and we dine out each night.

Rostered Duties: All safarists are rostered to assist with a few basic small chores. Our self-catering safaris require assistance with food preparation and washing up chores. On every trip, safarists collectively prepare a diary, which is desktop-published at the end of each trip and sent to each safarist.

Walking: There is not a lot of walking on most safaris except Lord Howe Island. On other safaris there are very few days when safarists would walk more than two hours away from the starting point of the walk.
